A bit of history…
The Wabenaki and Andrew Lodges are situated within La Mauricie National Park. Before that time, they were part of the prestigious fishing and hunting club known as the Laurentian that was founded in 1886 by William H. Parker. Many of the club members were rich Americans, like Rose and Joseph Kennedy, who liked nature as well as comfort.
Of the 12 buildings built on the west shore of Lac à la Pêche only 2 remain: the members’ kitchen and dining room (Wabenaki Lodge) and the club manager’s residence (Andrew Lodge). The two buildings were designated Federal Heritage Buildings in 1991.
The lodges are an excellent way to explore La Mauricie National Park year round and are available to groups and individuals alike.
